new to barefoot not sure if i get these or the tracker 2 fg for my new boots for winter

Great job for a first review! Good camera work in particular. I've got the knit version coming in and am in an area where water in the trail will not be an issue so I'm really looking forward to how they perform for rock hopping like you like to do also.

After using it for a month, just after a few days it got a slight amount of mold stains on the inside green fabric. I already cleaned that away with vinegar and washed it for 1 hour with warm water. Now the stains are much less visible but i didn't manage to get them out completely. A bit sad but its a tiny thing that is really only visible if you pay very close attention. Still looks like new. This tent feels very good quality i love everything the colour combination is beautiful. Also my poles cracked easily and developed small cracks fast after a few days, i was very careful with the tent. Theres this metal thing you slide over so i'm fine, its just not as beautiful. I guess its because its made in china hopefully, bad quality control.

Barefoot is about to keep the foot free. Toe CAP doesn't sound it.

But if the toe cap would be added, wouldn't it restrict the toes from being barefoot? ;)

How are they holding up? I wish they did a fg tracker upper (waterproof and not hot) with a ESC tread for grip. These boots look great but they seem hot and a faff to keep having to treat them

If anyone else has issues on this section, the waymarking isnt great in places, but around Glenshane forest / Donalds Hill, Open Topo Map/ Open Street Map have the trail marked in and it can be followed on them using GPS. The Hiiker app Ulster Way map is also mostly pretty accurate and the trail line is also visible using the Strava App map. At the bit everyone gets lost on at edge of Glenshane forest there is a Google Maps pin placed for the Glenshane stile showing the way in now. I really wish the council would place a few more posts in some places on this as someone who lives in the area, though the Glenshane forest section has been largely the same acccording to the old Alan Warner trail book I have here since the late 1970's! Edit: I've just checked and that Moydamlaght to Glenshane forest trail line is now also showing up on Alltrails tagged as Sperrin/Ulster Way on the open country section near to Glenshane, until recently that line was 100% not shown on any of those sources.

Dont know if you read comments on your old postings but I have to tell you that Ulster HAS NOT improved its way-markings AT ALL in this part (Moneyeany-Dungiven & Donalds Hill- Rigged Hill wind farm) since 2020. It's downright shameful, not to mention dangerous.

Best dang boot I have ever owned. Wore them all sunmer in the heat and dust at my kids' motocross racing while camping 3 to 6 days at a time in a tent. Boot surprisingly kept my feet cool and although the terrain was hard on my feet, I felt really good and never uncomfortable wearing boots all day and into the evening. ESC is the best for hiking too, made my feet go up half a size and wider.

Excellent review! Just tried it in around 0˚C, it was great, but my feet were cold from the big mosquito net on the door. Will have to cover it with something :D

These are the best shoes around and they look like soccer {futbol} shoes...You could hike a mountain then play a pickup game of football

We walked from Keem Beach up to the western side (330m). Because of the strong wind and low clouds, we stuck to that area and looked down from the ridge/lower mountain. I was petrified and amazed. We couldn’t see much of the upper mountain. What an incredible area. Thanks for the review.

Do you think the Forest ESC boots would these survive Patagonia in November? More worried about warmth than comfort, been on the barefoot train for 5 years. It'd be Spring time, Basically in between 5 and 15 degrees celcius

Here's a tip: if you are starting into barefoot shoes and looking to buy these , you can buy insoles with added support to ease the transition.

If you are not walking at four miles an hour for fitness you can't see all the stone's and rocks so easy answer is proper hiking boots.

True barefoot men don't need all that ankle support and thick sole just rap your feet with toilet roll.

Great review. I love my Vivobarefoot boots and shoes. I love this shoe! So much so, that I've bought a second pair in blue and white! Having said that, you are right. They might not be the best for hiking in really wet and equally cold environments. The Tracker Forest Esc and the Tracker II FG's are more like a traditional hiking boot. I have the Tracker Forest Esc and it is one badass boot! A good quality leather balsam like Gilboy's will keep them waterproof and looking sharp.

Get the 3 person version most of your issues will be nullified !!! Remember with most tents 1 = 1 no gear. 2 = 1 with gear and 3 = 2 with gear !!! And so on 😊

But imagine this hike and camp in constant drizzle or heavy rain for days which is often the case on Achill .also that ground would be very boggy to hike over..i should know as I've been going there for years weather very much hit and miss even in summer
